Thread veins also known as Spider veins, are small red and sometimes purple veins on the surface of the skin.
Causes can be genetic, hormonal eg pregnancy or from excess sunlight exposure.
Facial thread veins respond best to short wave diathermy. This is an advanced form of electrolysis where a small disposable needle is used to prick the skin and then a small electrical current is passed through the needle which heats up the blood in the vein and seals the vein shut.
Over the following four weeks the blood is dispersed by the body’s natural processes and the vein becomes less noticeable.
Duration: 15 mins (disposable needles)
